Eucharistic adoration is a form of prayer that has a long tradition in our Catholic faith. During Eucharistic Adoration, the eucharist is displayed on the altar for prayer and worship. But what IS Eucharistic Adoration?

  • Quiet time to rest and be renewed.
  • A chance to give thanks by spending time with Jesus in the Eucharist.
  • A time to pray for peace, for the world, for strength, for healing…
  • A time to sit face to face with Jesus and deepen your relationship with Him.
  • “God and [humankind] reaching out for each other at the same time.” – Pope Benedict

In October Saint Giles will have 90 Hours of Eucharistic Adoration to celebrate our 90th anniversary – to give praise and thanksgiving for the last 90 years and to pray for the Spirit to guide us through the next 90.

The Liturgy of the Hours: Pray always! – During the 90 hours of adoration, our prayer services will be modeled after the Liturgy of the Hours. The Liturgy of the Hours is a type of prayer that is rooted in a prayer practice dating from the time of Jesus. Prayers and readings are given for specific times of the day – sanctifying all our day-to-day actions by bookmarking them with prayer. The prayer during these services blends liturgy and scripture in a way that truly helps us pray with the Word of God. All over the world, Catholics pray the Liturgy of the Hours either in community or by themselves where they are – come to a prayer service this week and join them!
