Family Mass Community celebrates Sunday Liturgy at 10 am in the Gym. During the Summer time in July and August this Family Mass Community meets in McDonough Hall (Gleeson Building, 1101 N. Columbian) and returns to the Gym in September -
Begun over 35 years ago as a “gym Mass”, the Family Mass Community developed into a small community within the larger St. Giles parish community. The Family Mass Community gathers each week in the St. Giles Parish Gym at 10 am to celebrate mass together. Members make a personal commitment to being “family” to one another. Being a small community within the larger parish requires a high level of participation by our members. Each week members of the Family Mass Community gather to prepare and delegate tasks for the upcoming Sunday liturgy.
Upon my life, the tracks have vanished, We’ve lost our way, what shall we do?
It must be a demon’s leading us This way and that around the fields.
A. S. Pushkin, “Demons”
The time of the end is the time of demons who occupy the heart (pretending to be gods)...
Thomas Merton

Saturdays Jan. 21, 28 and Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25
from 9:30 am to 12 Noon
St.Giles Parish Center / Rooms 307 and 308
Fyodor Dostoevsky enlivens our imaginative grasp of what faith and the lack of it looks like by focusing on:
the life of a solitary individual -- Crime
and Punishment
political and social life -- Demons
the family of a perverse patriarch -- The Brothers Karamazov
Like Dante's Divine Comedy, Dostoevsky's novels reward close attention, communal reading, and extensive discussion.
Bill and Tesse Donnelly, Larry and Mary Hagen, Frank O'Hara and Rick Piwowarczyk will facilitate this six-session study of Demons.
Fee: $20.00, includes a copy of Demons in the critically acclaimed translation by Larissa Volokhonsky and Richard Pevear.
Sign-up after Liturgy on Sundays Jan. 8 & 15, or contact Rick at 708-763-0254 or piwo_13@yahoo.com. Community Policy Applies.
