Religious Education Mission
It is the goal of the St. Giles Parish Religious Education programs to support the efforts of parents in handing on the gift of our Catholic faith to their children. Our programs are designed to offer children and their parents opportunities to deepen not only their knowledge of our Catholic faith, but also to deepen their personal relationship with our God through prayer, communal worship, and service to others.

Welcome to the Religious Education Program here at St. Giles Parish. Handing on the faith to the children of our parish community is an awesome task. It is the goal of the St. Giles Parish Religious Education programs to support parents through this journey of faith. In this website you will find materials that will hopefully do just that, support you in handing on the faith to your children. You will find a page detailing each of the Religious Education programs offered here at St. Giles Parish: Our Pre-school RE Program, our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd RE Program, our Traditional RE Program for Grades 1-8, and our NEW Family Religious Education Program.

Our parish Religious Education Programs also supports families in preparing children to receive the gifts of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Detailed information regarding preparation for each of these sacraments maybe found on the Sacraments pages of this parish website.

In addition to our various Religious Education programming, all enrolled families are to participate in our parish’s weekly celebration of Mass. A significant component of our Religious Education programs is our parish’s monthly Faith & Family Liturgy, which is celebrated the fourth Sunday of the month. The F&F liturgy is designed for families with children of all ages, especially elementary and middle school children. In order to participate in this celebration there are NO RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAMS on this Sunday. Detailed information and family participation forms for this celebration maybe found on the Faith & Family Liturgy page of this parish website.

Thank you for inviting us to journey with you and your family throughout this coming year of faith learning.

MaryEllen Casselman, Coordinator of Religious Education

Letter from our Pastor - Father Carl Morello

Dear Religious Education Parents,

I hope this greeting finds you and your family well. After enjoying what I hope was a safe and wonderful summer, I want to welcome you and your family back to RE. I am committed along with Mrs. Casselman to helping you in your role as the primary teachers for your children in the practice of our faith. That is why this year there are new programs to help meet the varied needs of our families. This year, are numbers have grown. We have 385 children in pre-k through 8th grade. There are another 78 children involved in CGS, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program.

Once again this year, we are helping serve the religious needs of many families and a large number of children. I want to remind you however, and encourage you, to be the first teachers of your children in the practice of our faith by making mass a priority with your families. The Eucharist is at the core of who we are and what we do as Catholic Christian people. We can teach and offer all kinds of programs, but there is nothing more important than your own example of prayer, attending mass and trying to live out your faith through the service of others as Jesus himself has taught us to do. I and our parish staff promise you are help, support and prayers as we strive together to pass on the faith to your children, the future leaders of our parish, the church and our world. It is an awesome responsibility and our privilege to share in this with you this.

May God bless this year for all!
Father Carl
