Our St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy and St. Giles Parish is partnering with Ascension/St. Edmund Parish to form an organization that is called IIM (Intercultural Immigrant Ministry). Our goal is to work toward hosting migrants. Father Robert Carlton, Associate Pastor to both Oak Park parishes, has graciously offered to work with us. We received a family from Venezuela in September, and a single woman sometime in December. IIM is working with ICDI (Interfaith Community for Detained Immigrants), who will be providing case management services for the migrants.

UPDATE AS OF NOVEMBER 27 – IIM will begin hosting a single woman from El Salvador in January 2023. She is currently living at Bethany House in Hyde Park and has received her work papers. Please consider being a mentor for this woman. The Beyond Bethany Mentoring Program training will be held at the St. Edmund Campus, 188 S. Oak Park Ave, Oak Park on Saturday, December 3 from 10 am to 2 pm. To register, contact Darlene Gramigna at 773-213-2240 or darlenegram@gmail.com.

To make donations for the people we are hosting, there has now been a fund started at our parish. Please make out a check to St. Giles Parish and note that it is for the St. Giles Refugee Fund in the memo line.

If you are interested in helping them adjust, please email us at immigrantministry@gmail.com or email Margie Rudnik at margaretrudnik@gmail.com.

Other needs are always emerging, and the flow of migrants from the border into the city of Chicago is ever increasing. If you are interested in other ways of helping, please contact us at the above email or phone number.

Thank you for your generous hearts!
