Our Lady of Angels Mission Needs You!
We are asking you to help with renovations at Our Lady of Angels Mission – https://www.missionola.com/school.html.
OLA is run by the Franciscans of the Eucharist. It preserves a Catholic presence in West Humboldt Park. The purpose of the Mission is twofold: to assist the materially poor and to share the treasure of our Catholic Faith.
The Franciscans are renovating the school to support their after-school/summer programs, senior assistance and food pantries. Additionally, the building will include a volunteer residence and a retreat space. Experience with wall framing, insulation, sheet rock and finishing are helpful, but not a prerequisite. Much thanks to Michael Doyle, Mark Wagner, Ed Fritsch, and Nick Haber for helping this summer.
We first met the Franciscans when we volunteered with our daughter Sabina at the monthly food pantry. We are very impressed with the work of the mission. Also, the Franciscans are fun to work with.
Interested? Let us know what days/times best fit your schedule. We can be reached at 708-383-5272 or email@example.com. We will plan week night and Saturday morning work sessions this summer and fall depending on your response.
If anyone needs added incentive, Fr. Bob Lombardo is a 1979 alum of Notre Dame!
