Pilgrimage of Prayer – Oak Park Parishes
STATIONS OF THE CROSS

The Lifelong Learning and Adult Faith Formation Committee invites all families to pray the Stations of the Cross this Lent. Our community is so blessed to have beautiful worship spaces across our village from the north, to the south, to the east, and to the west! We will gather to pray on 4 Fridays this Lent, each at a different worship site.

  • Friday, March 10 – Stations of the Cross will begin at 5 pm at Ascension Church, followed by the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry at 5:30 pm.
  • Friday, March 17 – This week, we are pausing our official Pilgrimage of Prayer Stations for St. Patrick’s Day. However, there will be Stations of the Cross at St. Catherine – St. Lucy Church on Friday, March 17 at 6 pm.
  • Friday, March 24 – Stations of the Cross at 7 pm at St. Catherine – St. Lucy Church with a special focus on almsgiving with donations to Housing Forward – Suggested needs: gentle used and new clothing for men and women, shirts, pants, socks, t-shirts, and gift cards from any groceries or fast-food restaurants (Jewel, McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts, etc.)
  • Friday, March 31 – Stations of the Cross at 6:30 pm at St. Edmund Church – These stations, a stop on our Pilgrimage of Prayer, are hosted by St. Edmund Church. There will be a simple soup supper followed by the Stations.

Additional Stations of the Cross Opportunity

On Friday, March 31, our Council of Catholic Women (CCW) will host the Stations of the Cross at 7 pm at St. Giles Church – Follow the Way of the Cross Through the Eyes of Mary

This annual offering explores the stations of the cross from Mary’s perspective – All parishioners and guests are invited to share in this spiritual journey of prayers joined by the Bell Choir.

DAILY REFLECTIONS FROM THE ASCENSION AND ST. EDMUND COMMUNITIES

  • Pilgrimage of Prayer – One of the three disciplines of Lent is prayer!
  • “A Pilgrimage of Prayer” Daily Reflections from the communities of Ascension and St. Edmund are based on the readings of the day with a personal reflection and Faith sharing. Our hope is that this will help us get to know one another more personally as we continue on this journey of merging two Catholic communities into one parish.
  • On February 21, an introduction to the series will be sent to all registered recipients with the daily reflections of parishioners and staff members beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 22, 2023. You may find the reflection of the day by using the link below.
  • If you would be interested in receiving the daily reflections, please sign up by emailing to ascensiondome@ascensionoakpark.com and writing Pilgrimage of Prayer in the subject line.
