Mass for Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick

Saturday, October 14 at 10 am Mass

Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the Church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up…”
– James 5:14-15

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a special opportunity for the Lord’s healing power to touch those who are experiencing illness or the aging process. We extend an invitation to those in our Parish Family who feel the Celebration of Anointing will be a help for them in sickness and aging of their bodies to join us on Saturday, October 14, for a special Mass at 10 am. Family members and caregivers wishing to be present with those coming to be anointed are also invited and welcome to share in the liturgy. When we celebrate this sacrament together in community, we celebrate God’s gifts of healing strength and comfort, and the special qualities of encouragement, compassion and helpfulness.

WHO MAY BE ANOINTED? Those who are seriously ill. Those who are temporarily ill or convalescing. Those who are chronically ill (heart condition, asthma, arthritis, cancer, etc.) Those who are suffering from depression or a chemical dependence. Those who are preparing for surgery in the near future. Those who are 65 years and over. A sick child may be anointed in order to be comforted and uplifted by the Sacrament.

While walk-ins are most welcomed, it would be a great help and most appreciated, if you know you will be attending, to please fill in the response form below and return it to the Parish Center, Attn: Deacon Gerry, by October 11. This will allow us to adequately prepare (worship aids, name badges, refreshments) for this special Mass and the reception of light refreshments following. Thank you!
