Baptism

Baptism1

The Faith Community of St. Giles welcomes you with great joy as you prepare to have your child baptized! Baptism is more than a ceremony and words; it is a commitment to a lifestyle which promises a life-long friendship with Jesus. Having your child baptized is the first step in that process. We are here to walk with you as you begin that journey.

Baptism for infants and toddlers are held on the First and Third Sundays of the month. There are no baptisms scheduled during Lent.

An evening Parent Baptismal Preparation session is a requirement for first-time parents or parents who never took the preparation class when their older child was baptized. Those parents who took the class at another parish simply need to provide St. Giles with proper documentation and will not be required to attend again. Anyone who previously attended a preparation class, they will be sent a refresher packet of information as they prepare once again for this sacrament. St. Giles’ sessions are held once a month in-person on either the Third Monday (Jan., Mar., May, Jul., Sept., Nov.) or the Third Tuesday (Feb., Apr., Jun., Aug., Oct., Dec.) of the month at 7:30 pm in the Church. Your attendance is required at only one session.

Families coming for Baptism should also be registered members of a Catholic Parish. We gladly welcome you to join our faith community. CLICK HERE for our parish registration form (PDF) if you are not already a member. If you are a member of another Catholic Parish, we ask that you provide a Letter of Permission from that parish.

There is no set fee for Baptism. A free will donation is gladly appreciated and will enable us to continue to provide the Baptismal Ministry here at St. Giles Parish.

Please contact us via email or by calling 708-383-3430 with any questions you may have and to make a reservation for both a Baptism date and a Parent Baptismal Preparation session.
