SPRED is a faith development program for developmentally disabled persons from ages 6 through adulthood. It is a ministry sponsored by the Archdiocese of Chicago which provides catechist training and materials. The objectives of SPRED are to share faith and to grow in relationship with God and one another through our experiences together. Sacramental preparation and reception are offered. There are service opportunities for catechists and friends to work together to serve those in need. A typical session includes time for welcome, prayer, reflection, music, a light meal and socializing. St. Giles has offered this program for four years.

We meet 12 times per year in the atrium spaces in the Gleeson Building on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm from September to April.

On Sunday, June 11 at the 5 pm Mass at St. Giles we are celebrating one of our friend’s Confirmation at a SPRED Family Mass. We hope you can join us for this very special Mass and celebration.

Several parishes in our community offer this program for the various age levels:

Ascension: 6-10
St. Bernadine: 11-16
St. Giles: 17-21
St. Vincent Ferrer: 22 and over.

Please contact us for further information regarding our program or any of the programs listed above.

Thank you and we look forward to meeting you.
