SGFMC XXXVIII (That’s the 38th) Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot

It is another year and the traditional SGFMC Turkey Trot will be in just few weeks. We need help from past volunteers and there is room for the uninitiated. Last year’s volunteers will be contacted, but there is always room for more – please contact Jack Lesniak at 708-524-0880 or (ref TT2019 on the “Subject” Line).

TRADITION – For the last 38 or so Thanksgivings the St. Giles Family Mass Community has gathered to celebrate and be thankful for the gifts of our families and that some of us can still walk or run 3+ miles with our friends and family. The Turkey Trot is a three mile plus walk/run on Thanksgiving Day – November 28, 2019. We gather at 9:15 AM, in the downstairs entry hall of St. Giles Gym. The race starts from the side alley of the Gym.

The event starts at 9:30 AM. Refreshments are available for the participants at 10 AM. Awards are at (about) 11 AM and we’re finished by 11:15 AM so you can get home and put the turkey in the oven.

AWARDS – Medals to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place men & women finishers and ribbons to the finishers in each age group. All are expected to proudly wear their awards at Thanksgiving dinner.

DONATIONS – Some years ago we ran this event to be a wash as far as money was concerned. But one year we had some money left over and decided to donate it to a good cause. This year we will be splitting the donation between Companions Journeying Together Inc. ( and The St Giles Appalachian Service Project ASP.

ENTRY FEES$20 if you want a long sleeve designer T-Shirt; $10 if you want our thanks for entering. Note: Fees go to $25 and $15 respectively after Sunday Mass on November 24, 2019. Numbers and t-shirt pick-up is on race day prior to the race.

ENTRY FORMS – Available at the Gym Mass or e-mail for a copy or available below in PDF format. There will be day of entries at the St. Giles Gym from 8 to 9:15 AM only – increased fees, $15 & $25, will apply.
