A Contemplative Community Online
Remembering Your Death as A Path to Life

In this sacred season of Lent, our chapel community invites you into a spiritual journey of transformation. We will explore two ancient practices of remembering death: the Christian practice of memento mori and the Buddhist practice of maranasati. In the Christian tradition, memento mori (remember you will die) frees us from the distractions of the world as it draws us into a deeper awareness of God’s love, mercy, and purpose for our lives.

Similarly, the Buddhist practice of maranasati, or mindfulness of death, invites us to hold the reality of impermanence close to our hearts. Facing our mortality with courage and mindfulness, we cultivate clarity, compassion, and a deeper appreciation for the present moment.

Each Full Chapel session includes a 20-minute period of silent meditation, a short reading for prayerful reflection, and an opportunity for simple faith sharing. There is no cost or obligation to participate. Simply complete a brief registration form. Once registered, you will receive an email with information on how to join any of our chapel sessions throughout the week. Feel free to come as often or as little as you like.

The readings during Lent will come from a wide range of both Christian and Buddhist sources. Whether you pray with our online community or on your own, the readings will invite powerful reflection on life’s impermanence and God’s eternal presence.
