Easter Sunrise Shoeboxes

EASTER SUNRISE SHOEBOXES ARE STILL ONGOING!

Parishioners are encouraged to continue assembling them at home as a family Lenten project but should hold onto them until Church reopens and Masses resume.

They can bring them to the Parish at that time!

This is a Lenten Outreach Opportunity that starts on Ash Wednesday and ends on Palm Sunday each year. The shoeboxes are donated to various Outreach Organizations, including the Franciscan Outreach.

The purpose is to fill a shoebox or a comparable-size container (you provide the container) with a variety of the following suggested items to be given to an Outreach Association: Tube Socks, Hotel Size – Soap and Shampoo, Kleenex (small packages), Brush and / or Comb, Plastic Rain Poncho, Deodorant, Wash / Face Cloth, Small Towel, Toothbrush / Toothpaste, Disposable Razor, Shaving Gel / Cream, Baby Powder, Hand Lotion, Gift Card from McDonald’s, Burger King, etc. (not to exceed $10.00), and other small items. Please be sure to include these two following two items: Word Search or Crossword Puzzle Book with Pen or Pencil and a Plastic Easter Egg filled with Candy.

When a shoebox is filled, you can decorate it (if you choose to do so). Then put a rubber band around it, mark the box either “Man” or “Woman”. Place your filled container on the benches in the Gathering Space in Church or drop it off at the Parish Center. These boxes will be delivered to the various locations during Holy Week so that they can be distributed on Easter.
