The St. Catherine – St. Lucy and St. Giles Men’s Society offers a range of opportunities, spiritual and social, for growth, service and recreation to the men of the Parish. We intend all of these opportunities to foster a collegial, involved and closely-knit Parish community. Our membership is free and open, and requires no commitment to participate in any particular event, but instead offers an invitation to find comfortable, but meaningful ways to share the fellowship of the men of the Parish.
A Leadership Council of volunteers coordinates Men’s Society events and opportunities.
Bob Senechalle is the 2025 Man of the Year
Men of St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy and St. Giles Parish,
With thanks to all who submitted nominations for the 2025 Man of the Year, the Committee (which includes Fr. Carl, prior MOTY recipients, and yours truly) has convened and reached a unanimous decision. Bob Senechalle is the 2025 Man of the Year.
One of those nominating Bob was Ted Gibbs, whose eloquent submission beautifully captured the basis for the Committee’s decision:
- Bob is a man of faith, family and community, one that can serve as an example of the type of man everyone at the St. Giles Men’s Society should strive to be. He has been a member of the parish for decades, raising his family here and continuing to serve in whatever capacity he is needed since his retirement. His life of living for others is remarkable, including his respect for the rule of law that has been at the center of his professional life.
- As an attorney and jurist, Judge Senechalle has earned widespread acclaim from his peers for his first-rate intellect and exceptional personality. He served for 18 years in the Circuit Court of Cook County, primarily as a Law Division Trial Judge but also in Chancery. Prior to joining the bench, Judge Senechalle concentrated on commercial litigation and business law in private practice. (Source: https://www.adrsystems.com/neutral/hon-robert-e-senechalle-jr-ret/)
- Bob has served as an advisor and counselor to many parishioners throughout the years, including to me as an attorney in public service. A cancer survivor, he has befriended others who were dealing with this horrible disease and extended a helping hand to those who needed a friend to rely upon.
- He has also served with the Migrant Services ministry here at St. Giles with his wife Clancy, where they have helped families in need of legal assistance, shelter and food.
- When he is not using his legal acumen to help others, he can be found cheering on his grandchildren at St. Giles sporting events.
In addition, Bob also has been a long-time member of the SGMS, and a dedicated omelette-maker at the annual Pancake Breakfast. Above, is a picture of Bob with his sons Pete and Tim!
Please join me in congratulating Bob, and plan on celebrating our recognition of him at The Smoker on June 13 – REGISTER BELOW!
Congratulations, Bob!
