ST. GILES CHURCH WEEKLY FOOD COLLECTION
Drop Off Items at the Parish Center or St. Giles Shrine – Donations of canned or shelf-stable dry goods and paper products to the covered bins located at the back door on the north side of the Parish Center at 1025 Columbian. Members of the staff are regularly emptying the bins and bringing the donations inside to prepare them for delivery. For those coming to Mass, donations can also be dropped off at the St. Giles shrine in the gathering space of church.
These non-perishable food and toiletry items are collected for several food pantries in our area – Beyond Hunger, St. Martin DePorres, Vital Bridges and Santa Maria Addolorata, along with Catholic Charities in Cicero.
Drivers Needed – We always need new drivers for Food Pantry deliveries. The commitment is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours two to three times per year. This “Ministry” consists of picking up the donations at the Saint Giles Shrine (at the back of the Church) and from the outdoor bins behind the Parish Center, then delivering to one of our five sharing pantries. If you can commit now or have any questions, please contact Vik Petroliunas at 708-417-6096 or Vik.Petroliunas@sbcglobal.net.
