Holy Thursday at St. Giles

April 14, 2022

On Holy Thursday, we remembered the Last Supper and Jesus’ commandment of Love! That night, after hearing the scriptures, we washed feet. We responded to Christ’s command: Love One Another. As we participated in or witness the foot washing, we were reminded the great love of Christ, and his call to us in this profound act of love and service. Then, united ever more firmly in love, we were called to the Table. “Do this in memory of me.” “Come,” says St. Augustine, “Take what you are and become what you eat.” Finally, we were called to the garden – we processed with Christ in the Eucharist to the altar of repose. We placed our candles beside the altar. “Stay with me, remain here with me.”
